Studio apartment in the Piedmont neighborhood - walking distance to coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, shops, and parks. New apartment above our garage that was built with sustainability in mind. People from all backgrounds are welcome!

This is a newly built apartment on the same property as our house, which was built in 1913. Although the apartment is new, we designed it to fit in with our historic home, resembling an original carriage house. We used vintage and re-purposed materials where possible and new materials were chosen based on environmentally-responsible sourcing. The building also has solar panels, which make this a net-zero energy building.

This is a studio apartment with one lofted bedroom (low ceiling) with a queen bed. The ladder is sturdy and angled away from the wall, so it’s relatively easy to climb. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room (pull-out bed; don’t worry, it’s not the old-school bar-in-your-back kind) and we do provide a mattress pad to make it more comfortable. We welcome families, but recommend only bringing children over the age of 6 due to the loft and ladder, however younger children are allowed as long as parents feel comfortable with the space.

The apartment is bright and open with lots of windows and a balcony to enjoy on nice days. Our yard has a patio where you are welcome to hang out and a fire pit for those cooler nights. Since we live on the same property, we will often be around the house & yard and are happy to chat or provide tips on sightseeing in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

We've tried to make the carriage house feel like a home away from home, so it's set up with all the necessities. The bathroom has towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer. There is a Blu-ray player and we've provided a variety of DVDs from our collection. Local TV channels are available or you can watch movies/shows through Amazon Prime. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, coffeemaker, and should have all the necessary cooking supplies (but please let us know if something is missing). We’ve put some basics in the kitchen, such as salt & pepper, spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, coffee, and tea. There are a few toys if there are children in your group and also puzzles & games.
